Great time in Chicago

Chicago is a great city to visit in the anytime of the year. From the historical sites, architecture, and the food you can have a wonderful time in the “Windy City”

I have visited Chicago at least three times and every time I visit it keeps getting better and better. I always seem to find new places to visit, pubs to enjoy, and take in a White Sox game on the Southside. I must admit the past trip to I took the trip to the North Side to visit Wrigley Field (I know I know). I have listed some of the places I visited during my last trip.

Jay Pritzker Pavilion

Cloud Gate – Millennium Park

A trip to the North Side home of the Chicago Cubs is a must for any visitor to the city. Even though I root for the Chicago White Sox , I must admit visiting the historic Wrigley Field was an awesome experience. Built in 1914 the stadium is the second oldest stadium in Major League Baseball the oldest being Fenway Park in Boston. Because of this a normal Tuesday afternoon game will filled with people visiting from all over the Midwest and the US. The ballpark offer tours starting at $25 and last about 75-90 minutes.

Guaranteed Rate Field – Home of the Chicago White Sox

Doc B’s is a very nice restaurant that is located in the River North area of town. I happened to walk by and just decided to try it out. Once you walk in you are greeted by a very large digital menu. The restaurant has a nice interior and vibe. When I visited it was during the lunch hour and it was crowded, but I the wait for seating wasn’t long. I tried “The Number Six” which is a spicy chicken sandwich on an artisan roll and a Goose Island Sofie a Bavarian Style Ale that hit the spot.

Michigan Ave

Michigan Ave – Magnificent Mile

Michigan Ave a.k.a The Magnificent Mile is a shoppers dream of 13 blocks of shopping and restaurants that will keep you busy for days. I had the opportunity to walk the mile and it was really something, kind of like an outdoor mall that caters to high end clientele. This is one of Chicago’s biggest tourist attraction so you will see plenty of tourist exploring the area on foot. Some of the stores that I visited while here include Apple, Under Armour, Best Buy, and Ralph Lauren.

John Hancock Center

Navy Pier

The Navy Pier is one of most visited attraction is the Midwest. This pier open to the public in 1916 which next year it will celebrate 100 years of existence. The pier contains many restaurant like “Jimmy Buffet’s Margaritaville”, Harry Caray’s and many others. The most famous attraction on the pier is the ferris wheel, also included at the pier is exhibit halls and docks for one who wants to take a boat tour of Lake Michigan. For me the Navy Pier was a little too touristy but all in all I had a great time.
